Default Domestic abuse

In a hidden camera experiment, two actors portray a couple in the centre of London.

This experiments shows domestic abuse against men and domestic abuse against women, but both receive a different reaction from the public.

Watch what happens:

Is abuse against women all too common that domestic abuse against men is undermined?

How would you have reacted to this altercation in public in both scenarios, and is your view different now you have seen this video?

I saw a woman being abused once near my home.I told the guy to chill only for her to tell me "not to ****ing get involved".. I still would again though regardless of that fool. Truthfully, Not sure how I would react if it was a man. Would be pretty awkward to get involved and help them, but I definitely wouldn't be laughing like those mugs at least.

..that really is quite shocking and it makes you wonder how many guys suffer this but don't say anything because they think they will be in some way ridiculed or not taken seriously...

The perception that men can't get abused by women is ridiculous... It's a disgrace that people were laughing

I have a feeling we would be amazed at the figures Ammi. Both scenarios of abuse are wrong and neither warrants being belittled and laughed at.

Pissing Fiz getting involved. Stupid bitch can't even talk properly. From Maria and Kirsty, to Fiz. What a step down... hate that stupid bitch.

Anywho, knew there'd be a different reaction to a man getting abused. I'd say something to the woman after she grabs his hair like some mad bitch.

Women can be horrible... unreasonable, demented, vindictive... I was bullied really badly at school by females. Of course I wouldn't fancy their chances if they tried it these days... But my point is, I don't know why anyone would be shocked that a woman could be a violent abuser.

It's sad but not that surprising really, I can't really explain why but I know that I'd take it a lot more seriously if it was a man acting that way to his girlfriend than vice versa. I might have said something when she started going really mental on him though, maybe just a little "calm down love", that should do the trick

A lot of the time both of them end up turning on you so I just stay out of domestics in public. Leave it to the white knights to sort out.

I've got to question the 40% claim too. Is that in this country? Is it 40% of reported incidents? Is it a guess? What?

Not sure where the source is for that, it's a British video so I assume in the UK but I'm not really sure

Its disgraceful tbh. Those utter twats just laughing. The problem is this thought that men should just suck it up as they are stronger than women and yadayadayada.

True. And if he'd slapped her back, there'd have been hell on. Those people laughing are a disgrace.

I have seen this happen in a bar before when I was at work. This lass was proper punching her boyfriend and he was trying to restrain her, but eventually he must have just got sick and he hit her back...all of a sudden everyone (who was ignoring it before) was on his case. Bouncers threw HIM out and were gunna leave her in.. I got loads of crap that day because I kinda stuck up for him and said if she thinks shes big enough to hit him then shes big enough to get a slap back..didnt go down too well..everyone kicked off at me for 'condoning violence' (?!) and I very nearly got sacked over it

I'd have been right behind you. How could they accuse you of condoning violence when they'd stood around with their thumb up their arse watching her slap him?! You hit someone, you should expect to take a slap back.

Its not hard this

men are stronger than women

they thought is "he could really hurt her and that is wrong" the other thought is "she cant hurt him so there is no need to be worried here"

its normal

It's wrong though. Size is no guarantee of strength, is it.
