Well they're different really a thread will get locked if it's run its course or there's no chance of it getting back on track now, posts will be deleted if it's considered that the thread can still carry on alright it's just that the argument was derailing it at that time

That's because we are here to close a thread or delete posts that could potentially turn into an all out war, or at the very least show ourselves in the thread so members chill out a bit and then we don't need to hand out any infractions or that.

I think I understand the analogy... when posts are removed it can distort the progression of the thread if some members are seen in a bad light the thread is 'cleaned' to redress the balance... imo.
So I say lock.

But surely if the mods are cleaning a thread by deleting posts they're not just going to leave one side of the argument hanging, they'll just wipe it all surely?
