Carroll and Lambert aren't that dissimilar, you could describe both as target men and Lambert is definitely closer to Carroll than Suarez or Sturridge. Surely the point of him will be to provide something different mostly from the bench and he's a strong player who poses a big aerial and physical threat - just like Andy

He was way cheaper obviously but he's also way older and getting rid of Andy was just accepting a £20m loss when he could still play a role if Lambert is going to

Yeah but the difference is that Carroll would have never accepted being 3rd choice striker at Liverpool but Lambert is quite happy to be playing for the club he supports and loves. Yeah Lambert is 32 but 4m is a bargain I think.

Not that much of a bargain when you could get a year younger David Villa for the same price

I think we're about to massively **** up this window, like we have so many others when we've got ourselves in a good position, but villa offers nothing different to S&S in the way that Lambert does, and Villa also plays at Atletico, so probably wouldn't accept being a 3rd/4th choice here, whereas lambert signing, shows he's happy to enjoy the semi-retirement of dead rubbers in the cl, and domestic cup games.

I'm not happy with Lambert, but comparing apples and oranges doesn't really prove anything.

I wasn't using David Villa as an option as someone you should have signed I'm comparing Lambert to a player of a similar age who has more quality for around the same price.

Lambert, Can, Moreno & Possibly Caulker don't strike me as players who are going to take you a step further.. Lallana would be a great signing though but even £25m is a bit OTT.
