I think Jale is a little scared that the insults might become more hurtful. Like her targeting her weight or something like that. She might not be able to come back at her with something which would hurt her equally as much.

Jale knows what she's doing, it's called being passive aggressive. It will work to her advantage. Now if it had been me, I would have been kicked out for kicking her in the face.

If she did take Helen aside and told her, and Helen continued her nasty campaign it would give Jale even more of an advantage, Jale's problem is if Helen took her comments on board and actually did lay off she loses her underdog status and associated public support.
