What on earth was the point of giving any housemate a free pass to the final if it could be taken away on a whim.

It isn't just about Helen,it would have been about any housemate who got the free pass.
Are you also saying Mark should lose the £5,000 he was promised as a reward then too.

If so what is the point at all of ever having the power trip theme in the first place.

I would be saying all this still if Steven or Ashleigh had the free pass, I am not judging it on which housemate has it.
I agree no one should have had it, certainly no one should have got it in the first week of the series but BB did that,not Helen, she didn't ask for it just as no housemate did or would have.

However once they put it in place, for me it should be honoured fully until the final.

A free pass to the final has to mean you go to the final with no threat of eviction and are exempt from the effects of any twists to same.
Otherwise there was in fact no free pass and the whole basis for the theme of the series is null and void if it was to be taken away.
We also would have then had to endure weeks of ridiculous and unnecessary viewing across the board with total meaningless twists from BB.
