I turned the light on when I went to the kitchen and saw a mouse run across the room, think it's gone into hiding now but I'm guessing there'll be more than one... anyone know how to get rid of them quickly?

You'll have to burn your house down, I'm sorry.

Quand il pleut, il pleut

...oh how strange, I thought we had a mouse yesterday...I felt something running about in the bedroom at 3am yesterday morning and saw this dark shadow thing running across the floor...so it was a bit of a shock and I woke up my OH who armed himself with a hairdryer all ready for battle..and then anyway, after a bit he found it and it wasn't a mouse at all, it was a frog..

Get a cat! Failing that you can get humane traps to catch them and take them outside...
Ammi...my cats brought a frog in last week, took me ages to catch the little blighted - then Matthew wanted to keep it as a pet ![]()

Cheese on a mousetrap?... too much tom and jerry arista
![]() Have a look around see if there's any holes where they might be getting in and block them with brillo pads ( wire wool) Make sure there is NO food source, not one crumb Keep all your packet foodstuff in glass or sealed plastic containers.

source: I watched a program on telly once where they had a really cute Jack Russell that they used to tear the head off rats. ![]() It was called The rat pack i think it was good telly. ![]() Last edited by billy123; 28-07-2014 at 10:40 AM. |

If there's nothing for them to eat they won't come in so no need for traps.

If you've seen one sorry to say you probably have dozens , a cat will drive em out or poison - its horrid but the humane traps (you'll need loads of them) they love peanut butter in them ! they do work but it goes on forever as they breed faster than you can catch em. Find where they are getting in a shoot some that expanding foam in.

Once in you do need to act to get them out, don't ignore and hope they go away, traps are more humane than poison, at least death is instant

if you can push a pen through a hole a mouse can get through it.
Nutella on the trap is best but overall a cat is boss |

I lived near a field when I was little and during summer we would always get mice and putting poison in hidden places like behind the couch and stuff where it's pretty dark is good. Just get your pets out the house if you're going to leave poison lying around.

I get field mice in my house around harvest when the fields ar being disturbed. Because I've got a cat they don't tend to stay very long but sometimes one will stick around... and sometime Reg (the cat) brings in critters and drops them for the fun of watching me try to catch them. For these occasions I have humane traps. I was advised to use Marmite on a little piece of bread, the trap shuts behind the mouse and he's... well, trapped. Then I let them loose.

my devil dog catches them in the fields and crunches then down in one. The downside is mouse parts in the poo.
