Ashleigh 100% started the divide between her and Helen !

She started off bitching with Danielle calling Helen 'vile human being' etc (Helen said nothing about Ashleigh like that at this point in the series)

But then it REALLY kicked in with Ashleigh's 'evil plan' to exclude Helen from all the girls and manipulate them into not saving Ash

Helen had no problem with Ashleigh until she heard that in the gossip app task (and also the morgue when BB showed them snippets of Ashleigh's bitching)

Ashleigh started on Helen first. No question. We all saw it.

I don't think that's why people don't blame Ashleigh, that's not why I don't at least. Helen being an obnoxious bitch and Ashleigh isolating herself from said obnoxious bitch explains why those two never got along. But until very recently, Ashleigh was never in a power position in the house to enforce any sort of divide on a larger scale. Helen's pretty much been The Power Housemate socially speaking the whole game courtesy of Pauline giving her a pass to the final, and the divide pretty much resonated from how Helen treated anyone who wasn't on her side.

Ashleigh has eyes and saw how Helen treated others. She was a vile human being those first few weeks, which is why she had hardly any support outside the house.

Helen doesn't need to start on Ashleigh for Ashleigh to dislike her. Watching her be nasty about others was more than enough to form a negative opinion of Helen.

Ashleigh's reactions are a response to Helen's aggression. Why should Ashleigh be expected to offer Helen an olive branch when Helen's been nothing but a rampaging bitch to her and her friends? If Helen knew how to act like a human being then there wouldn't be such a big divide in that house as she wouldn't have alienated most of the housemates. Helen likes to blame everyone but herself even though she has been the main catalyst for all the trouble.

Why was Ashleigh calling her vile? Because of the way she was picking on hms she didn't deem cool enough to be in her own group, banging around the house as if she owned the place, and generally showing aggression in confrontational situations. The things she said about Danielle were honestly awful. If you don't want people to dislike you, then don't be a dick to them and their friends.

Just because Ashleigh slated Helen first doesn't mean she instigated the full house divide. Helen did that all on her own in my opinion (with the help of Pauline maybe!)

SERIOUSLY, the only reasonable assessment of the situation is that they (and plenty of others in the house) are responsible for the divide. It's absurd to blame one or the other. Danielle, Chris, Steven, Kimberly, Toya, Jale... you can even rewind back to the very beginning and throw Pauline in there - she was the very first instigator of division in the house. In fact, I think people have forgotten that "Pauline effect", I genuinely think that in her short time there she did a lot to set the tone for the entire series. She threw a massive spanner into that (very important) initial "bonding period" in the first few weeks and it all snowballed from there. Pauline: J'accuse!!!

As for the two on trial... Helen could be considered the cause because she's been aggressive and cliquey and that's the main reason that some have disliked her and have stayed away from her. Or Ashleigh could be blamed because she has never really been interested in properly trying to sort it out. But then, Helen doesn't HAVE to like everyone, there's nothing inherently "wrong" with being cliquey. And there's likewise nothing wrong with not being arsed about making an effort with someone you aren't really interested in getting along with.

They're both to blame but there is no "blame"... I personally am not a big believer in the whole "everyone should get along!" thing. It's OK for people to just not like each other!
