I wouldn't want to listen to constant long yarns about his wise advice/sayings or if he whistled or clicked his fingers at me to listen I would really hate it.
I enjoy listening to people's stories but if I felt that someone was basically speaking at me rather than talking to me, and if I thought they had no interest in what I said about it and were more interested in just having me listen and agree, I would find it irritating.
I could be reading Gary completely wrong but that is just the first impressions I'm getting. I don't think he's a bad person, and probably does have a lot of love and warm feelings for people, but at the same time there is just something in the manner he carries himself and speaks to people that I can kind of understand why he would be seen as annoying.
I will give him a chance though. I have a feeling he is one of those characters that when I get more used to his ways I could start to find him very funny.  |
..yeah I do understand what you mean about 'speaking at you' but I think he also seems to really listen and absorb as well which maybe for me balances that because especially with celebrities but 'attention' people in general, they often don't listen and don't seem that interested in each other ..maybe only in that if they see an opening in the conversation where they can interject and talk about themselves..?...I think with that particular instance with him and Leslie, it was maybe two things..?..one that Leslie was very tired from his broken sleep the night before and then that Gary has indeed been irritating him on past occasions..so Gary felt he was correcting him..maybe not the most diplomatic and he should have just overlooked doing that, regardless of who was right..?..but it just brought about his past irritations with Gary and feeling generally tetchy from lack of sleep...
..I think the 'annoying' thing would maybe be just because of his understanding and hearing issues...no matter how nice the person, that would annoy you when you had to constantly repeat yourself and when he asks for someone to do that, he does have a tendency to lean closer, so invading someone's personal space which never feels comfortable..?...
