Obviously personality is subjective, but "s/he played a good game" isn't a personality trait at all. If I don't like you, I won't care if you played a good game because I still don't like you. Similarly, if you have the worst gameplay in the world but I like you then I don't care. The notion of caring about gameplay above all else has always been perplexing to me because the personalities involved obviously matter a lot more. If you just care about X plotting to get Y out, you can watch a chess match or read about the season on Wikipedia without actually watching anything and it would have the same effect.

Essentially, as I've said repeatedly in other threads, it comes down to the fact that this is BBUS. This show is rigged and manipulated as ****, Grodner doesn't even try to hide it anymore, etc. You can be the best gameplayer in the world but if you don't make her pussy wet then it doesn't matter. The notion of liking people because "they played a(n ostensibly) good game" is just absurd to me when the real game goes on in the DR between you and the producers.

The Game is what every episode is based around. Between gameplay talk, strategies & competitions, it takes up well over 50% of the show, every show.

If you don't take into consideration how they're playing the game, then what's the point of watching US BB when there's other BB's to watch? It's literally what this show is built from. Without that aspect to it, it's basically BB UK, maybe Australia as well, I don't remember as I've only briefly watched either of those but unlike them the BBUSA shows are based a lot around gameplay. And it makes it more fun than those shows IMO. It's the best part of the show. Personalities definitely play a big factor in getting favorites but it doesn't make sense that gameplay should play no factor. For example, if one person I like screws over another person that I like in the game, I'm most likely not going to like that person as much, especially if they're being dumb from a game perspective. Furthermore, if someone has no idea what they're doing it annoys me that they managed to get on there while adding nothing to the whole purpose of the show, and that'll usually make me like them less if I liked them for other reasons. Has little-to-nothing to do with their personality, but they'd be ruining the show for me and I'd get tired of supporting them unless I really loved them as a person.


Anyway, being laid back is a character trait I like in general, but when watching Big Brother I like it that much more because it's smart to do in that house. It's a game of survival so it's amusing and respectable to see someone putting themselves in a great position to advance in this kind of game every week while the others are constantly making dumb decisions and tearing each other apart (those kind of people are much needed as well, otherwise it would get boring with only smart & relaxed players going at it). As far as someone like Enzo goes, he definitely was also funny and entertaining. He's charismatic; if people don't see the entertainment value he brought to the show then oh well I can accept that and just strongly disagree.

I don't see the show being rigged, though. It probably has rigged factors to it with the twists and stuff. Plus they probably do intentionally, or unintentionally, drop hints to houseguests in the DR of course, but no I don't think it's ever rigged for a certain player to win.

Also, about the "Meow Meow"... it's part of his sense of humor and personality he showed all season. He doesn't take things too seriously just gave himself a goofy nickname (or got the goofy nickname from people if I remember correctly... either way).

Again, how well you play the game isn't a personality trait. Just like how the general public loves Kaysar and hates Maggie despite the games they played, I'm not going to like someone like Dan or Derrick (or anyone else who has a repugnant personality/no personality whatsoever) just because they "played a good game." Like I said, this show is rigged as **** so it seems pointless to invest in ostensibly good gameplayers when good gameplay won't get you any far if you're not Grodner's favorite. And if you're really unsure about whether or not the show is rigged or manipulated, just look at Dick and Jeff and Frank's journeys and get back to me.

Even more so, good gameplay is boring as far as I'm concerned, and a lot of aspects of playing the game well directly contradict aspects that make shows entertaining. A majority alliance running the house, stifling any sort of drama, trying at all costs to prevent any power shifts from happening, and targeting loose cannons is a nightmare BB season in my eyes (shockingly, BB12 and BB16 match this description to the ****ing tee.) I know you love the Brigade because they played a good game or whatever (despite their awful/lack of personalities) but watching thirty-something episodes of one group steamrolling to the end was really just a waste of my time. Similarly, I know you said that that it will be great to watch the Bomb Squad when they finally have to turn on each other, but if I don't care about these personalities while they're in control, I'm not going to care about them turning on each other. And I don't think it's amusing or respectable or admirable to watch someone sit back and relax because "it's a good strategy" or whatever. Quite frankly, I question what the **** the producers saw in those people because that's boring as hell.

Just out of curiosity, given that this is a BBUK forum and you admitted that you've only briefly watched the show at best, how did you end up here? Not trying to run you out or anything, just genuinely curious.

Never said it was, it's just something that people on the show should be judged on and could/should be a factor that might make you like or dislike a houseguest, seeing as it's the whole purpose of the US show.
