The point of the comparison is that you don't have to accept the flaws of your upbringing and using it as an excuse is weak. She traveled the world when she was successful, she had the chance to experience different cultures and different ways yet she held on to her homophobia so there's no excuse for her, especially when you consider that the gays probably had a large part in her success.

To pity her is to give her validation so she gets no pity from me, she's a hateful hag that's swallowed the government's coolaid when she's old enough to know better. There's plenty of people in Russia who aren't homophobic so what's her excuse?

They don't see it as flaws though, Many Russians think its perfectly normal, the same way we think its normal for same sex relationships to exist, and many Russians travel the world but still keep the same views because they genuinely believe it is right, and I don't pity her or agree with other Russians who have similar views but I do understand
