Vince is playing the criminal so the young detective role is still open for Kitsch. Only serious role I've seen Vince in before was in Into the Wild and he was really good in that.

i never seen Into the Wild but remember Hal Holbrook (sp?) won an award for his 5 minutes. Vince played Norman Bates in the remake of Psycho. sucked but i think he can play serious roles. a good amount of his first roles were more serious like the ones in the 90's. seen the '98 film Clay Pigeons years ago and he played a serial killer and i thought he did fine. even in some of his comedies his character gets serious at times. i think he'll do a decent job. he can play psycho/weirdo.

We can finally complete our #TrueDetectiveSeasonTwo Photoshops: Two days after Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn officially signed on, Variety is reporting that Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch are also close to joining the second season of True Detective. Both castings have been rumored for a while. McAdams will be playing Ani Bezzerides, "a tough, no-nonsense Monterey sheriff whose troubled upbringing has driven her to gambling and alcohol," while Kitsch will be playing Paul Woodrough, a young soldier turned detective "who has seen his share of violence and destruction." Yup, sounds like True Detective.

Kitsch confirmed.
TV's worst-kept secret is finally out of the bag: Taylor Kitsch has confirmed to AdWeek that, yes, he will be in the second season of True Detective, telling the magazine he "can’t ****ing wait" to get started. After filming The Normal Heart, Kitsch revealed he spent a year turning down lesser projects in the hopes of landing the role of battle-scarred veteran Paul Woodrugh. "You want to work," he said, "but you also don’t want to just water it down and work for the sake of working." Kitsch also credits Nic Pizzolatto with reviving his love of the craft: "[He] kind of brought me back to when I was here in New York and why I wanted to be a actor, why you struggle and why you don’t quit." We think we speak for everyone when we say we can't wait for Kitsch to unveil the True D. http://www.vulture.com/2014/10/taylo...cebook_vulture |

Vince Vaughn Says ‘True Detective’ Season 2 is ‘Very Different’
Now that “True Detective” has set its cast for season two (Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly), the stars are finally starting to open up about the show’s hotly anticipated return. In an interview with Playboy, Vaughn admits that he’s not feeling particularly pressured by the prospect of following Woody Harrelson’s and Matthew McConaughey’s acclaimed performances. “[Creator] Nic Pizzolatto is such a great writer, and so much of this is driven by his stories,” Vaughn says. “I thought Woody and Matthew did an exceptional job with the first season. This one’s very different, though. It’s a totally different story, with its own characters. The thing that’s consistent is the richness of the characters and the quality of the material.” The season’s new setting has a lot to do with the difference in tone, according to Vaughn. “That was Louisiana. This is a California-based story, and it was kind of birthed from here. A lot of it is set in Los Angeles.” Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a man in danger of losing his criminal empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner. “I really like my character. Nic is so great about investigating characters and their complexities in an authentic and engaging way,” he tells Playboy. “I want to watch this show not because I’m in it but as a fan of the material.” The “Wedding Crashers” star originally met Pizzolatto because of a completely different project, but the pair apparently hit it off: “I was developing a movie version of ‘The Rockford Files’ and met with Nic about writing it. He was really enthusiastic but was already working on a crime drama set in Los Angeles, and he gracefully said it was best for him to focus on ‘True Detective,'” Vaughn recalls. “Then he reached out to me about doing that series, and I was beyond flattered and thrilled to collaborate with him. I was happy to work with Colin Farrell too, whom I’d never worked with before.” http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/true...hn-1201432314/
