I'd abolish all the people that have their first name as their username. Think of all the other Niamh's in the world who miss out because someone else has nicked their name.

I definitely see your point. There's no reason for anybody not to be equal, but in regards to someone's join date I feel like older members already have their friendships based, which is something you've already stated. That's not to say newer members wouldn't be included because TiBB is a welcoming community, I just think in terms of 'equality' a post count doesn't really have anything to do with in, in comparison to a join date, which like you said is expected to cause a bit of distance in terms of understanding user's sense of humour and interests.

I'm just content with how TiBB is and don't think anything needs to change.

Post counts are a classic for all forums, removing them would just be weird for me.

The only time posts counts are an issue in my experience is when we have an "abolish post counts" or a "make posts count in C&G" thread. I can't remember seeing instances of someone's low post count making them a target or someone's high post count giving them extra status.
