Indeed. The oft-quoted mortality rate for Ebola of 70 - 90% is taken from the actual death rates in outbreaks in Africa, usually in areas with poor sanitation and even poorer healthcare. The actual death rate even if the entire western world was to be exposed would be far lower (although still higher than anything we've seen before).
Also... from the original article... are we really calling < 10,000 in a population of 1.1 billion a "swathe", let alone "swathes"?
Also, if anyone here does happen to find themselves coming down with an unlikely case of Ebola, I suggest the first thing you do is flood yourself with high-dose Vitamin C. Your doctor won't tell you this... might even rubbish the theory... but the fact is, high-dose Vit C is incredible effective in deactivating viruses and the only reason this isn't widely discussed in the medical community, is that less effective Big Pharma **** like "Tamiflu" makes some very rich people even richer.
