"It's fine, really," a distorted voice on the phone sighed, "look behind you. Do you see a sign for a garage?"
"I do-" Bella began to jog towards it. "Well, I'm at the garage. Don't worry, it'll all be fine," Bella could almost hear a smile through the muffled voice, but she was a little bit put out by the fact that Carl wasn't using his real voice. She followed the signposting for this garage and was a bit disappointed to discover it was the most ruminitive, pitiful excuse for a garage imaginable. ![]() "You wouldn't even be able to fit more than one car in that," she laughed aloud, and she was proved correct when the doors opened to reveal a pair of headlights beaming straight at her. 'Ah, the great anonymous reveal as I'm blinded,' she thought - and for once she was sadly mistaken. The figure ahead of her who'd opened its doors, climbed back into the car and floored the accelerator. Bella turned to jump out of the way, but just a fraction of a second too late, and the last thing that went through that know-it-all's mind was a side-splitting pain as she tumbled over the hood. She landed in the road with a sickening crunch; the driver didn't even need to reverse and finish her off, but they decided to anyway. |

Helena had been dropped off on the other side of the borough - the heavily residential area, or what probably was once upon a time - and the night was beginning to fall.
"Stick around here," Max told her, "I need to gather some friends." He drove off. Helena put on the coat he'd given her and took in the events that had led to her arrival. Just four hours ago she was being taken for a ride into town by her nurse, and now she was an escaped asylum patient alone in a dark town. Max had been kind enough, she conceded, but she was a little bit concerned as to his motives; he'd told her that he knew she wasn't insane, and he promised her revenge on the people who'd had her locked away. She knew nothing else - and most importantly, she didn't know how he knew all of this about her. She hadn't talked to anyone outside of the hospital walls in over eight months now, although she supposed it was entirely possible that Autumn girl she'd befriended could've told someone about her story. Helena went for a brief walk around as the sun fully set, and saw rows upon rows of detached houses just stood, gathering dust and shadows. One down in a slight valley on the left seemed to have some kind of halo effect about it, though, she thought, and with no idea as to how long Max would be, she figured she may as well take a little journey to investigate. The temperature was getting cooler now - around 8pm in October was never delightful in any part of Pennsylvania - so she power-walked to keep warm. Each house she passed just added to her feelings of loneliness, and reminded her of the rooms on her own ward in their own little quaint, identical ways, but she soon came to what was causing that dim light from up the hill. ![]() She had no idea what this meant, or who it was aimed at, but she walked back to the drop-off point with a bemused smile. |

Danny had deserted Eli long back, now; in search of someone called the Host, he gathered, although he found Danny's ramblings a little too inconsistent and bizarre even from a drug addict's perspective. Eli was now practically screaming - his veins felt like they were about to burst from his arms - but something told him to head back to the church where they'd met. That little girl playing with a lighter had disappeared too, but he didn't particularly care considering she'd kept her distance the entire time anyway. He thought he could hear voices on the walk back - some old woman, he thought - but that was almost certainly his mind playing tricks on him. He noticed the gas mask graffiti everywhere, as Danny had pointed out, and it was as though they were all whispering to him.
"Human?" they kept hissing. Eli picked up the pace and walked around the back of the church, trying to find anything that might point to the stranger's whereabouts. He looked up at the church's windows for a split second, when he felt a presence to his left. ![]() What do you think I am? Human? "You're safe now", Eli heard, as his throat was slashed in one swift motion by a box cutter. ![]() ![]() Eli and Bella's stories... Spoiler: Spoiler: Marc and Mokkajava, thank you very much for playing, and I'm so sorry it's been such a brief stay |
