Default Who is your favourite author?

This is a hard one for me, it is probably between F. Scott Fitzgerald and Oscar Wilde. I would probably have to say Oscar Wilde overall, though the Great Gatsby is my favourite novel.

Of all time, I'd probably say Agatha Christie, I've read everything she wrote, she was brilliant.

I quite like reading autobiogaphies/biographies as well, most recently I've read Dannii Minogue's and have just started Michael McIntyre's.

JK Rowling. I've read the Harry Potter books and the other companion books she's wrote so many times and I never get bored of them. Once I start reading them, I can never put them down. On every reread I always pick up on something which I didn't on the last read. I know it's a fairly predictable answer but I just love Jo's descriptive style of writing and I'm excited for her new book.

P. C. Hodgell, her books are full of the most wonderful and sometimes terrifying scenes. She creates characters believable and complex. And they inhabit a world that is spellbinding.

I have several, but Stephen King takes the lead for his Dark Tower series.

Sophie Hannah writes a good thriller as well, quite dark. I've read most of hers, thinks there's two I still have to get.

hhhmmm, I don't really have a favourite author, but of all the authors I've probably read more John Grisham books than others

Either Franz Kafka or Oscar Wilde... haven't read much of the latter though.

George RR Martin.

Would have said Brett Easton Ellis but he describes pointless things in too much detail

Forgot about Dostoyevsky, he might actually be number one.

Kafka and Ellis are both amazing as well.

I love the first four books of the dark tower, but the series just becomes terrible towards the end, and I hate the overall ending.

You should read King's the Stand(the uncut verison), it's about 1500 pages(the regular one is only 700 or so). An amazing book

King has some great novels in his early career, but has gotten worse and worse later in his career.

Hmm maybe Ken Follett, Pillars of the Earth and World Without End are probably my two favourite books, although his other stuff can be a bit hit or miss. Quite like Ernest Hemingway as well, especially For Whom the Bell Tolls

Yes, I liked his darker work too for adults like 'Kiss Kiss' and 'Tales of the Unexpected'.

It's difficult just to name one. My favourites are
Stephen King
Jane Austen
Guillermo Del Toro
Monica Dickens
and from my childhood AA Milne and Beatrix Potter.
