Because they thought they should ,for what reason i dont know, i can only speak from experience ,When i was small I lived on a 100% white street,black people and asian people were hardly over here then ...... then 2 black families moved in ,then an asian family EVERYONE got on with everyone ,why can't it be like that now? because people are sick of being told what they can say and not say ,my daughter was called white trash at school by a mixed race child ,when i complained i was told it wasn't racist !!

Because obviously this utopian street is representative of the whole country if not the whole world.

Black people and other minorities had it so easy back then.

Ah Chuff come on, people don't campaign to change things if everything is just fine and no one is upset, that makes no sense at all. Maybe where you lived was the exception to the rule but you've just heard here from a black person an account of what his father went through and someone else posted a link about how black people still were expected to stand up for a white person on buses in the 50's so clearly it was very much an issue, one that you didn't see obviously

Im speaking of what i know .......I never saw a black person have to stand for a white person on our buses, that didn't happen in England, this person must be talking of USA
