Third because, you've made it to the Top 3, but don't have to suffer the embarrassment of runner-up for loosing against another person. Especially to a landslide.

I don't get this logic, surely second place is better than 3rd because it's second place lol Coming 3rd means you lost to two other people not just 1

As a professional sportsman, 2nd place is the first loser. I don't like being a loser. Its gold or nothing, nobody remembers a loser.

Sure winning is best but 2nd is still better than 3rd

I never said 2nd place was worse than 3rd.
But coming 2nd would gut me more than coming third, as it could've been me, sort of thing.
I can't really explain, TBH.

Imagine:

Housemate A = 45%
Housemate B = 30%
Housemate C = 25% (THIRD PLACE)

Compared to...

Winner = 85%
2nd = 15%

That 85 : 15 landslide would make me feel more ****, than coming 3rd and getting a quarter of the voting share.
