I will never believe or trust a word this man says now as to what he would do with any further share of power.

The hardline, heartless policies he has made his party support and his total betrayal of freely given cast iron signed pledges on tuition fees then the obscene supporting of unnecessary and disastrous NHS reforms,leave me with the view that this man has no 'political' credibility and integrity left.

No way will he ever convince me to trust him again.
That isn't anything he will need worry about in future as after this election he is unlikely to be Lib Dem leader, that is even if he holds his seat,and he will then probably be off to a nice lucrative position in the EU.

Since he and his party have absolutely a zero chance of winning this election and no other party that will be in govt; would support that idea,then this would be one more thing he advocated doing but threw out the window, once a bit of shared power was offered him.

He has to hope that by some incredible twist as to Lib Dem fortunes,that somehow they can hold enough seats to have any chance of shared power again.
However,I think he is going to get absolutely hammered as to his party in this election.

I don't trust him but I would prefer to see a Labour/Lib Dem coalition,the Lib Dems turned their back on that one,despite it being possible in 2010,I cannot see labour however wanting any strong deal with Clegg.
If the Lib Dems do get hammered and he holds his seat, I hope he does the honourable thing and clear off from the Lib Dem leadership.

Who to take his place however, I have now equal dislike for near all the current Lib Dem hierarchy/MPs,except for Charles Kennedy and Tim Farron.

They couldn't have had a majority government though

The Lib Dems will be fine at this election IMO, most of their MPs are in seats where they are still quite popular, in part because Lib Dem MPs are often some of the most committed to local government and their constituencies. I have a lot of time for the dignity that the Lib Dems have carried themselves with in this government and their appreciation for the realities of the situations they've found themselves in, history will look back on them a lot more kindly than today does.

No,I agree they couldn't have but in my view, sometimes the strongest govt on paper doesn't make for the best govt; in the end.
Example Tony Blair winning 2 massive overall majorities but not really doing the best for the Nation overall.
The same applies to Margaret Thatcher's govt; after the 1983 election, she saw a massively divided opposition, got around 144 for an overall majority herself and was one of the worst govts; for helping create a disunited Nation.

Although the Lib Dems in 2010,could not reach overall majority status with labour, there was a really strong anti Conservative house of commons after the 2010 election that would not have likely brought down a Labour/ Lib Dem coalition.

The Lib Dems would have got at the very least AV as to elections in the future, they would have never had to support obscene policies like the 'bedroom tax/charge', there would have been no legislation for a top down re-organisation of the NHS.
Both the Lib Dems and Labour, in 2010, did not want to risk the recovery and growth in place by making severe cuts in the first year of power.

Labour planned at least 20% less cuts than the Conservatives, the Lib Dems believed the deficit didn't need to be cleared in 5 years and Labour planned to only halve it in 4 years.
A coalition with those aims and policies could have commanded more respectful support from all parties across the UK and also there would have been no need for Clegg to break his promise on tuition fees and the rise of same.

It may have looked on paper a far weaker govt; to have but with the support of all parties all across the UK, and those national interest aims as to policies,it could have ,in my view, been probably a better, more compassionate,fairer and successful one.

You may be right as to the Lib Dems doing okay in May's election,I don't see it however, just about everyone I know, myself included, who voted Lib Dem in 2010,have no intention of even considering voting for them this time.
They really have only done well in Eastleigh as to by elections across the board of by elections this parliament.
I think they 'could' have done better and saved more of their seats, had they got rid of Clegg,since they didn't, I think they won't do well at all.

Of course we won't know until after 10pm on May 7th and through May 8th, I would however put money on the Lib Dems coming down to around 20 seats,mainly down to being the sitting MPs in them,(I don't think they will pick up one seat they hadn't in 2010). and I think that will be their best possible result this time too.

A good number of people are incensed that they have been made to wait a full 5 years to get the chance to vote for someone else after the Lib Dems betrayal of their trust and votes.
The thing is,between 2001 and 2005, the Lib Dems rose because Labour voters turned to them,in 2010, those voters stayed with the Lib Dems.
Some of whom were likely Labour voters in the 80s who moved over to the SDP/Liberal alliance at that time too.
Who had been won over again by Tony Blair until the Iraq issue.

The very last thing most of those voters wanted however was a Conservative govt; that was able to implement a lot of its original policies, and then seeing the Lib Dems not only go into govt with them but seeing them support such extreme, heartless and unjust policies, has them then fleeing from them,some back to Labour some to other parties.

Those that have gone however will certainly not trust Nick Clegg again,he has become toxic to those voters, hence why the Lib Dems are, and have been, right down to consistently single figures in poll after poll for years now,in my view mainly because of his leadership and the poor terms he accepted for joining this coalition.

Those voters quite simply not only don't trust Clegg at all, they are not likely even listening to him or the Lib Dems in this election.
Hence the massive losses of Council seats from the Lib Dems too over all this parliament, many of whom were really dedicated and decent Lib Dem councillors too.
