Default Russell Brand Opens a Coffee Cafe Tru Era in Hackney

Just on ITV1 London
he said Politics is Dead now

Brand has used his book (Revolution) profits to fund it.

LT is correct Arista. The statement which every attendee of Alcoholics Anonymous makes to introduce himself, is; I am xxxx and I am an alcoholic, no matter how many years they have been 'off the juice'. It is the same with drug addicts.
Full credit to them though for turning their lives around and to Brand for employing them. .

Myth: Some alcoholics can learn to drink normally and can continue to drink with no ill effects as long as they limit the amount.

Reality
: Alcoholics can never safely return to drinking because drinking in any amount will sooner or later reactivate their addiction.

http://www.lakesidemilam.com/alcohol...of-alcoholism/

You can however be clean or sober or both and yes any help given to this poorly understood disease is welcome, and Russell is a hammer and we stick together

sorry Wuss

Ah well I consider myself an ex addict, what you or a couple of people with a recovery programme think is of no interest to me.

stay strong Kizzy. yes you are ex but the mind loves repetition and remembers the good feelings more than the bad.

I know full well how hard it is for addicts to recover. My own brother passed away because of it. Not everyone is strong enough to recover.

Yes Vanessa it is such a poorly understood disease. The fact that NA and AA provide the best hope tells you all you need to know about how GPs have been effective here.

It's a vicious circle. You get clean, then fall into it again. It takes a very strong person to stay away. Some people have an addictive personality.

I'm so sorry to hear that Vanessa It is true that the more you try to give up the worse the withdrawal, there's a medical term for it but I can't find it. It's awful the more desperate you get the more hard it is to quit sadly.

It wouldn't matter what your GP did or said, which to be fair between them and other organisations like AA is quite a lot, until you're in the right headspace to quit they are pis*ing in the wind.

I am sorry to hear that Vanessa. I know how hard it is to really beat an addiction, which is why I said those working for Brand have my respect for turning their lives around.

Thanks, everyone. It;s so hard watching a loved one go through this. You feel helpless, because there's only so much you can do. It's up to them to stay strong enough to walk away from their addictions.

Well I don't know about that, some unfortunately lose the will to keep on trying but everyone's different, when it clicks it clicks, it might be a year in or 20yrs. The chance of a full recovery depends entirely on physical, mental and emotional damage.

You are quite correct of course L.T drug addicts and I include alcohol and tobacco in the list of drugs... Can never touch their drug of choice again. Simple as that.

There is no small acceptable controllable amount... Any amount would lead back to full blown addiction so the moral of the story is don't overdo these drugs or you will have to say goodbye to them forever...
