I tried to watch Vampire Diaries, but i watched the first episode and i lost the will to carry on when it was basically all sex and someone was tied up iirc, it was way too weird for my liking.

Are you sure this wasnt true blood? I dont remember this in the vampire diaries at all :S

Dollface and Vicky, do you watch The Strain? I didn't watch Season 1 and opinion seems pretty mixed, but I felt like checking it out.

Thought I'd ask the resident vampire enthusiasts.

It's about vampires yeah, but in a different way from The Vampire Diaries / True Blood. Vampirism is treated like a virus I think, and the vampires get a more monstrous appearance over time, share one hive mind, etc. It's more directly horror-based I think.

So there's none of the vampire / human romance seen in the other two shows I assume.

oh i love a bit of human/corpse romance, so it'd probs be somewhat lacking

I love the idea of vampires being portrayed simply as dangerous monsters, we've had enough romanticization of them recently.

I still need to catch up on Penny Dreadful, too.
