That could be a deliberate police rouse to make the perp do something or say something that incriminated himself. The detectives would have pretty much sussed this clown from the off.

Yes I agree the not a suspect tag was a ruse, given there was no mention of Karen being caught on CCTV after 4am

If she was drugged, surely her friends would have noticed something was up, even if she did just say she was going to the loo. I have been spiked before and it was clearly obvious, as it has been when friends have been too :S

I hope the autopsy will shed the light to this case. At the moment it's a mystery. We have no idea what happened.

I'm absolutely heartbroken for this girl and her loved ones. The club is round the corner from my flat - and last night I went up to Loch Lomond and we unintentionally drove past the farm where the police found her body, saw it all cordoned off and flowers laid down on the grass... properly burst into tears, just makes me so sad that the poor girl had only been here for a couple of months, probably went to the toilet and maybe went to the smoking area outside on Dumbarton Road for fresh air/a cigarette, got approached by this guy and for whatever reason decided to go off with him and that was it...

If Alexander Pacteau did kill her, I hope they send him down for life and he never sees freedom again. What a wicked thing to do.

when is is convicted i wish they would just take him into a car park and shoot him in the back of the head. It would save so much money and would help the family to grieve properly.

Would the police be allowed to publicly say he wasn't a suspect though if he was He had his Mum really confidently defending him because of that and next thing she knows her son is a murderer :/

Maybe he wasn't a suspect at that time? I don't know, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be allowed say he wasn't a suspect even if he was

Yeah I don't think it'd be a ruse, just seems bizarre for them to be saying confidently that he's not a suspect one minute and then arresting and charging him the next

I'm sure they did but they must have had some reason to say he wasn't a suspect in the first place, surely when someone goes missing like this the person she was last with is automatically suspect no. 1 unless they have a very strong alibi

It's a pretty well known police tactic to trick the perpetrator into thinking they're totally off the mark so they incriminate themselves. Probably just said he wasn't a suspect because they wanted to investigate him more thoroughly as they didn't have enough evidence to arrest him despite being sure he was guilty; stop him from doing a runner.
