It could have worked,Kinnock commanded a lot of respect in the Labour party and perhaps Ed's ideals were more founded on his than Blair's.
Kinnock didn't get the full reward and credit for the way he transformed the Labour party.
Blair turned it into a milder form of the Conservative party and that is something I would hate the Labour party to try to do again.

Thanks Joey, I agree not sure why anything left of centre is met with arm flailing screams of 'militant leftie' now
He was a great politician and for me it was a toxic personal campaign that did for him and not anything that he was proposing, similar to what's happened now strangely.
If that were true and Ed truly was red then by the same token that would mean the tories all don black shirts wouldn't it?
