eh, it's just a show that's good when it's good but is ****ing atrocious when it's bad, and unfortunately it's been more bad than good lately. There used to be a part of me that would still hope for a BB11 type of series, but at this rate I'll even take a BB13 or early days BB15.

BB17 in particular has a whole lot of different guy personalities. Most seem kinda boring to me tbh but they're different. Same with BB16 bunch of different guys, except a lot of those guys were big personalities. The girls didn't do much of anything to help the show (and I liked quite a bit of them personally) yet the guys are blamed for a bad, boring season... And they are somehow classified in the same group of "same basic straight white males" when they were pretty different to each other. Cody, Caleb, Derrick, Zach are not alike to each other, aside from all being white males. Maybe a few characteristics here and there.
Anyway I don't wanna turn this into a BB sexes debate. Honestly, this particular season I don't have high hopes for the males but not much has been seen yet from anyone. Just truthfully it is generally hard for any of them to do any right from what I've seen in most places online. Cody from BB16 is a good example... he was a genuinely really good guy, defended people from bullying even when it was minor, had a good, positive attitude a lot of the time, sense of humor, etc. Pretty good at the game without being annoying/cocky and honestly an entertaining character regardless of what many say. It's different with the casual audience, just not online.

The guys were "big personalities" last year but their personalities were pretty awful, and they're blamed for a bad and boring season because the five worst guys predictably joined together and took out everyone who was likable and interesting. And most people know how I feel about Cody (his fanbase here is inexplicable, especially since many of these people write Amber off as just a pretty face), but I'll repeat again that he's whiny, moody, vindictive, and the most annoying snot sucker who played Derrick's game for him. He constantly made moves that benefited Derrick more than himself, and it was often at the expense of HGs who were actually entertaining to watch. He had the perfect opportunity to get Caleb out, but he settled for Brittany. He had the perfect opportunity to get Frankie out, but he settled for Donny. He was all talk (how many times did we hear how he was going to call someone out or put someone on blast?) and his gameplay actively ruined my enjoyment of the season.

We've had a few nerdy types and a fair few alpha male types and definitely a lot of bitchy girl types, but they haven't all been carbon copies of each other. And even if they all had been carbon copies of each other, we shouldn't judge these guys off of what we've been given before. A lot of the BB17 negativity so far has been based on a set of pictures/bios and 3 minute interviews, but yeah stay mad about it when we don't even know if this ends up being a great cast or not.

eh, Steve also had an abhorrent profile so I'm fully content with disliking him so far.
