I do think that the way they organise some things are pretty dumb, like the libdem conference as you mentioned having 200 staff sent there, but overall the BBC is a good idea because i'd much rather that than a news station taking it's place that only serves the needs of big corporations. That is when we truly lose democracy, they're not going to give us non-partisan coverage.

the bbc is a joke now. a VERY expensive wasteful joke with ever declining productions and a phenomenal liberal bias in their news. the bt monopoly are taking over sports, the documentaries are better on most other networks, the class situation comedies stopped being made decaads ago, there are no opportunities for writers either and the middle management is almost as overblown and wasteful as the nhs. it really is crap.

'I'm Not Anti-BBC', Culture Secretary Insists

[On the funding of the BBC,
he told MPs a subscription
model for paying for the BBC
"could well be an option in
the longer term" but the
technology was not yet
widely available in homes.
As a result, the review would consider
three options for reformed
funding methods, including
in a reformed licence fee,
a household levy, or a hybrid model.
The Secretary of State also said
a report had found the
decriminalisation of licence
fee evasion would not be
appropriate under the current system,
but it would be considered as part
of the charter review.]

the Licence to go on for a likely another 11 years is predicted too.
Doesn't sound much of a anything promising coming from this today.
