Lightbulb BBBOTs

Hi All,

Been a while since I posted here, but I wanted to see if my views on BBBOTs were shared at all.

I love BBBOTs so please don't think I'm just slagging it off, it's just at times last season, for the first time ever, I've considered not watching a spin off show.

Length

The hour slot (or longer on Monday's) is too long most of the time, they clearly don't have enough content to fill the hour so it seems as though they fill the show with garbage sometimes, silly cutaways to introduce segments that are horrendously produced and make the show look cheesy, to fill 30 seconds! Now it's going to 7 nights a week it's going to be intolerable if they don't work on some engaging content.

Personally I agree with having the weekend shows, the 2 day gap is too long to go without news updates etc, I don't always get time to look through the website (plus you have to watch ads longer than the content itself!) So BBBOTs is perfect for that. So to avoid this "space filling", either cut one or two mid weekshows, or have 4 or 5 shows running for just half an hour.

Audience

The audience is what makes the show a debate show, so I've no gripes with them being there, but please please please can we lose some of the attention seekers that keep appearing, there are some that just have to play up to the camera whenever Rylan is on shot, some that will move to stick their head around him when they are behind Rylan to get seen, it's the same ones over and over and it's very off putting, get the ones in that bring good opinion to the show but please cut the attention seeking, fake smiles whenever the camera is in that direction ones please!

Overusing good segments

It's a bit like when the main show used the electric suits on the housemates over and over because it got a good response from the public the first time around. Some of the guests that BBBots have on are pretty good, some are different and quirky and they add to the variety of the show. Dr. Dance was a fantastic segment the first time he came on with Emma, again it got a great reception, so much so that the producers had him on THREE times last series! Novelty is wearing off now because they've overdone it, save it for once a series and we won't get bored.

Singers

I've had to start recording BBBots so that I can skip through it if they decided to bring on some failed pop group or cover band to "fill time". It's horrific and the audience get up like they are at a pop concert. And don't even get me started on those horrific attention seeking "botsettes" from the audience that have started singing. Please get rid of the singing!!!

Digital and camera runs

One brilliant thing that channel 5 did when they took over the show was the digital segment with Ian etc. It started in the sweaty box, then was downgraded to them having 30 seconds on the sofa at the end of the show, now they've vanished, bring them back!! Cut some of the cheesy crap and give them a good 5 minutes at the end of the show.

Guests in the camera runs was something that carried across from the channel 4 days and gives us viewers a little "backstage" or "behind the scenes" view of what really goes it. I know one or two guests knocked on the windows when in there, so perhaps that's why they've got rid of it, but it would be really good to see this segment return.

So that's my little gripe on what's putting me off of BOTs over the last series, like I say I love the show overall and there are lots of good qualities, but Channel 5 seem to enjoy "fiddling" with the formats of the shows, and little things like this just take away the enjoyment of watching.

I'll be intrigued to see if anyone else agrees or if there's any other opinions!

BOTS went downhill fast as soon as Emma left and now that Rylan will be fronting it for 7 days straight... I fear for it

I've got no issue with Rylan presenting, I think it's more the production of it, although I think a second presenter could definitely help!

Oh yeah the production is terrible but that seems to be a recurring theme internationally

It never used to be this bad though, I'm not sure if there was a new production team last series.

I'm currently watching CBB9 for the first time alongside its BOTS.
It's less tacky and OTT (yes, Rylan, I'm looking at you) and more tongue-in-cheek, critical and cynical, and I rather have it like that. Alice is great, it's sad they got rid of her (and Jamie).
They better do something else on the weekends, like the talk/game show - these days every episode feels the same.

I am a faithful BOTS watcher since 2011, but I also can see a decline in quality. The best days were without a doubt when Emma was hosting throughout the week and Alice & Jamie took over on the weekends. Mostly, I miss the fun parts on the show. Remember when they did a countdown for Police Academy that was on after BOTS? I liked Jamie's Bed Time Story, the tribute song for each evicted housemate sung by drag queen Jeff, the karaoke that each evictee had to do, and even the wanking dog. In the earlier days there were also more segments like the one from the task team where they teased the upcoming shopping task.

Yes! Bring those days back, early BBBOTs on 5 was great.

BOTS is great, and Rylan is great too.

My only reservation is that most, if not all, of the clips they show from the house appear to be from the next days BB. This is annoying because when I'm watching the show the next day it's constant deja vu, like I'm watching a repeat.

The producers are missing a trick doing this. If they regularly showed house clips that aren't to be screened in the main show the next day, many more viewers would start tuning in to BOTS to see the unique footage. This seems obvious to me, so why isn't it obvious to the producers?
