We obviously see things differently. Gary played the victim card
perfectly by
not complaining and manipulating the viewing public into feeling sorry for him. He knew exactly what he was doing - I seen him at work on the Apprentice twice over when he drove his fellow contestants to distraction with his passive aggressiveness - playing the poor innocent all - forgiving old geezer is his stock in trade. He could teach Janice a thing or two about being devious and manipulative. James Jordan seen right through him but hadn't the sensitivity or patience to expose him without going OTT.
Gary was entertaining however and he was smart enough to get the viewers sympathy and win, so fair play.
