It was a jocular comment and he did not literally mean that he was going to 'chin' anyone.

When I used to gamble in the actual 'bookies' shops and had a particularly 'bad day' - mainly thanks to losing greyhound bets - I used to joke that I was going to "kick" the first greyhound I came across. It was a joke, and Chris Ellison was joking too.

And no - he was not one of my favourites.
