I have to wonder if the sentence would be suspended (or if people would be cracking jokes or saying it was deserved) if it had been a guy violently assaulting his girlfriend for cheating.

Don't get me wrong, I loathe cheaters, but breaking up with them is the rational response.

Very true!Would it be so acceptable if she'd cheated and he'd stuck a hot iron on her minge?

This... having said that she could have found out she had an STD? In which case it's totally justified.

Yeah, this would be one of the things I'd be thinking of if I found out my partner had cheated on me. Of course the emotional betrayal would be awful but there's also physical implications. You'd have no idea about the person they cheated on you withs sexual history so you'd have to go and have yourself checked out etc
*also not condoning what this girl did*

no the first bit of my post was just responding to what Kizzy was saying about cheating in general, not really with this case in mind

Oh.

You are dead correct about the having to have a medical check up though. I think in this 'sexually liberal' era, catching something through cheating and passing it on to your innocent partner, is actually worse than the moral aspect.

I mean, 'AIDS' can incubate and not show up for 8 years the last I read about it.

It does not bear thinking about and I could not do that to my wife no matter what.

Yeah that's something that would get to me as well, you're not only potentially risking hurting your partner emotionally but physically too
