I get organic tomato sauce... it has to live in the fridge

This is just another case of health and safety gone mad. Like tins with sell by dates on when we all know tins of food last practically for ever. As long as sauces are kept in a cool environment they will be fine, if you have six rads in your kitchen or an Aga you might have to rethink that. Larders are making a come back as a lot of food that ends up in the fridge has no business in there..eggs, tomatoes, potatoes, ketchup .....

It goes in the cupboard when we buy it but when it's opened it goes in the fridge like it says on the bottle.

Maybe its a marketing ploy and it decomposes in the fridge hence more sales
