It's not that big of a deal so he kind of over-thought things but he was just being cautious in his strategy.
No gay guy in BBCanada has ever stuck out and been targeted simply for being gay. Gay marriage has been legal in Canada for about a decade and as a country they're pretty far along in LGBT rights and all that stuff. What really isn't a big deal the fact that he's gay. Pretending to be str8 "for strategy" was just a really cheap storyline and a waste of time.

Ummm Hello?? Actually from Canada here...

While I will admit that Canada is fairly progressive in their LGBT rights... that is really only true in the major centers, and Canada and it's people politically and socially are still ruled by the rural population of bible thumping Christians who are still preaching against Gay and Lesbian relationships from their pulpits.

That being said, his strategy was obviously faulty because it didn't work... which is all I said when I started the conversation, but he grew up in this Country and would know better than you or I the stigma and stereotypes that go along with being Gay and Out.
