Well, aside from that, Ronald Reagan was also seen as a bit of a joke. Before and while he was President.

He ended the cold war so for that alone he has to be regarded as one of the great Presidents, but he also negotiated with terrorists, created the horrendous concept of trickle down economics and even sold arms to know terrorists groups. How good a job did Reagon really do?
