I think the general issue with 'text speak' is that it can be really hard to read and understand, but if it's just a simple case of someone saying "cuz" instead of "because" in an otherwise legible sentence then it shouldn't really be an issue. I'm assuming here that when it's been used, you've understood the intent of it?
