Pretty sure Dezzy would not make a fanboy thread about that?
Over time lots of artists have chosen to air views to a large audience, if Chris had chosen to do that then yes it would be totally fine by me, not that I believe that's a realistic scenario.
What dezzy would or wouldn't do is of no concern to me is it?

I wouldn't have agreed with it but I wouldn't have tried to shut him down from having that opinion or expressing it.

YOu would have been the first to make a thread saying he should have been shut down and expressing disgust and that he should have stuck to his routine etc

Are you basing this supposition on your hypothetical scenario?
Curiouser and curiouser.

yes, I think its a reasonable counter

Pop star hijacks a music event to campaign for a cause that say Dezzy strongly disagrees with

result: outrage and disgust that the pop star did that and the ensuing thread to follow

You have a sad way of amusing yourself.

Music is art and art is expression. Whether it's political or not - the point is to express. She's not just some performing puppet. She made reference to one of the most relevant and important social issues here in America right now. The Super Bowl is the highest rated television event of the year, it represents American culture - and I think it's a brilliant platform for "political" statements. And to state the blatantly obvious, there is nothing outrageous about her performance, song, or video. The only ones who are outraged are racists, the self-perpetuating victims of their own hate.

Lies.

My approach has always been that everyone is entitled to an opinion and everyone is free to comment on that opinion.

It just goes to show how weak your argument is that you must resort to outright lies to try to score points.

Yet you can't offer up anything in the form of a counter argument because you know he's right.

If a white child is ever killed by the police in America, the officers who did it would be strung up for it. If a black child is killed than the media will do everything that can to blame the victim by dragging his name through the mud.

America has more sympathy for it's white mass shooters than it does for black victims of police brutality.

Based on what? Your own imagination?

I've said my piece on opinions in the SD section alone so much that it's almost become my mantra, any regulars that aren't blinded by their own bias like you are can attest to that. The fact that you can't offer up any evidence to the contrary and can only dish out weak snide comments aimed at my character just shows how you don't have a leg to stand on in this discussion.

I don't take issue with her making a point about race and racism or choosing to perform it at the Superbowl, I take issue with the song not being very good. But I don't suppose that's the point of the song, it's a political statement, not a pop song. Good for her expressing those views, she's arguably the most visible and important black woman in the world. As a white man, I don't think this song is made for people like me and I think from the point of view of her music career, it's a bit of an odd release strategy for her new album, it creates a problem where music made by a black woman for black women (black people in general) is pushed as the lead single, so she's going to have fans of all races singing this song back at her and creating yet more of these ****ing irritating social justice warrior issues... I won't be getting in Formation but I appreciate what she's trying to do, I guess.

He's a great example of the idiocy of the people who defend the police blindly. The fact that he thinks it's a matter of simply hating on the police shows how ignorant he is of the matter.

It's not about hating the police, it's about holding the police officers who abuse their positions accountable for their actions and unfortunately for America, that doesn't happen enough. Black children are getting gunned down for no reason by officers who shouldn't even be on desk duty, never mind in possession of a gun. Look at that case from a few weeks back when the police basically committed a driveby on an innocent child. It's these racist psychopaths who just want to kill that are ruining it for the majority of police officers who are capable of performing their jobs properly.

That guy's an idiot who's using broad examples to tear down something that makes him feel uncomfortable.
