It is not the ancient text in an ancient book which is the problem that Blair is addressing - it is the medieval mentality of barbaric primitives who STILL believe in the literal meaning of that ancient text centuries after it was written.

ANY religious person who still interprets EVERY word in their 'Holy Book' literally, is an idiotic extremist who needs locking away - and that includes extremist Jews, Christians, Muslims or any other 'Faith'.

The trouble is; that the number of such extremists in Islam FAR outnumbers all the other religions put together.

All religion is the same, Kirk. Either accept it or live in denial, makes no difference to me. You can't accuse one religion of something that all religions are guilty of. You can't make out that Islam is any worse than any other religion for fundamentalism and paint millions of people with the same brush just because you've bought into the sensationalist demonising that Muslims have faced since 2001.

The problem with the Middle East is nothing to do with Islam, it's the fact that these terrorist groups and Militias use religion as a method of control.

Most Muslims in the west are Moderates just like most other religious people. There's a lot of Moderates in Middle Eastern countries that aren't controlled by warlords and terrorists too. To say that fundamentalism is an issue when it's being forced on a country is silly. Remove the Terrorists and the Dictators that benefit from enforcing extreme orthodox Islamic practices and the Middle East wouldn't be much different to the West.
