Yeah I don't think I'll like this system much with this diaspora voting

Russia, Armenia, Ukraine, Poland etc will always be top 10 with this system so that sucks a bit.

I think it was a good year for songs but the UK being outside of the top 20 is just laughable really. The fact that Germany got more televotes than us is the most galling: that was a 10 year old raiding Claire's and rushing together a song in twenty minutes, and she still beats us?

I mean I guess there's a reason European charts are even worse than ours but damn.

But it's just confusing. We're charting better than Croatia, Malta, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany, Armenia and the Czech Republic according to that ESC Tracker site but we can't finish above them? It's odd. I had a feeling Frans would be the best charter in the UK (our home act aside). I just wish I'd placed that bet on Ukraine that I was talking about yesterday

Wow at the Eurovision!

I loved the new voting system as it squashed the political vote, and yes it was still very political!

I feel Australia led only because the countries that gave them points didn't want to give those points to a country they didn't like and well she is the new girl on the playground and they all want to be her friend!

For me i didn't like Australia's song, it was boring! But i did like Poland's song and it showed that the general public did too to push it from bottom place to near the top.

But then i thought the UK song was pretty spot on, and we had a good spot on the Eurovision so why did we do so bad? The answer is that Europe don't like us.....it's that simple, they've never liked us, we're like the uncle nobody wants and with a music taste that gave Georgia 12 points can you blame them!

Eurovision has never been about the best song, it's about who the countries align themselves with, and it looks like we're on our own....so we may as well be

er the UK song had a terrible spot

The Australia song was a polished contemporary pop song and was executed flawlessly. Our song was at best average. Eurovision can be about the best song as we saw last year and with Conchita.

If we send a great song it will do well but our last great song was probably Katrina and the Waves - guess what? - it won

According to a lot of sources being in the second half is very good!

They were in the same position Katrina and the waves were when they won, and sorry but i thought Australia's song wasn't good, if you check back a lot of the Europe fence sitters (neutral countries) gave them 12 points.

And imo the UK song was quite good but my vote went to Poland

I liked Poland as well admittedly I only watched from song 20 and the voting, it might not be a popular view but I don't think Australia should be in the competition at all, what is the reason for them being involved

Oh Justin Timberlake

Oh Justin Timberlake
I'm with you on this Cherie, Australia should not be in the competition, but i get the feeling that now America and China are watching, and with the addition of Justin Timberlake making an appearance it's just a matter of time that it'll be called Worldovision!

Yep, 3rd in the jury voting and 10th in the televoting. We would've come 4th with this new system.

Yeah I think this year's system is better than last year's one. Poland was awful but they definitely deserved to finish better than #19 based on how well they did in the televote, and vice versa with Malta

The Facebook fans are always such an accurate representation for what song will do randomly well.

Like, last year everyone was raving about Albania and that did very well in the televoting (only to brought down by the jury), whilst this year it was Poland and they came third in the televoting.

Poland and Lithuania have always been the top 2 in our televoting for the past 3 or 4 years now, I'm guessing it's lots of Polish/Lithuanian UK residents voting for their home country every year.

Yeah, that's true. In general the comments on the Eurovision FB page were favouring Poland this year (on a European basis). I have no idea why though. I must have missed something with the Polish entry.

I didn't like the Polish entry at all, the surge in televotes was totally bizarre.

I think Australia performing after Poland actually hurt them in regard to the televoting.

Poland:

Votes from the juries: 2,3,1,1 total 7

Televote: 222

Now why was that?

Well its simple - Polish immigrants all over europe being fiercely loyal despite a crap song
