Facebook etc is hardly on fire over Turkey either, though. I'm not saying it isn't there, but compared to other similar recent events the "hype" for want of a better word, is just not there. I've seen a few people mentioning having noticed this and I definitely am - to the extent that I went to the pages of the "Usual people" who are normally all over these stories on my feed to see if I'd just missed what they posted. But, nothing.
I think it is just because there has been too much lately and I really want to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume that they're just numb / fatigued by it all... But a large part of me suspects that it's simply, for want of a better term, going "out of trend" to post rants / condolences etc. over these world events. The viral images, profile picture overlays, etc.
What bothers me I guess is that a lot of people's outpourings of "grief" in the past amount to little more than plastic "me too!" bull****. Not many people seem to ACTUALLY care. It's just been fashionable to act like it?
