i think there is nasty stuff going on at all levels, including threats and coercion. People seem to have quickly forgotten that Corbyn only made it on to the original leadership ballot with the help of a healthy dollop of coercion

That's true as swell. We'll wait and see what's in store.

There was some talk on the weekend that some Labour MPs may well leave politics for a few years. Those like Umana and Tristram Hunt were considered the rising stars of the party a few years ago and are now hated by the membership and led by a man whose politics is pretty distant to theirs. The likelihood is that Corbyn will be re-elected and so at best the current situation will continue or they may well find themselves facing deselection. With British politics as a whole to be dominated by Brexit the next few years and with Labour party politics to be dominated by the Corbynistas then you can see why they might not have the appetite to continue on the backbenches. If they're brave they might split and try to form a new party but if they don't think that will work then many may well just walk away from Westminster for a while and hope that Labour's Corbynite period will die of its own accord.

They desperately need someone like Hilary Benn but he has said he wouldn't stand. Unfortunately if they keep electing these uninspiring people then they will continue to flounder. At this point I can't see them being elected again if they don't get a grip on it. The whole Corbyn thing is a fiasco and he stands no hope of being elected.

Listening to the Labour bird on Daily Politics Owen Smiths values seem very good. He's a socialist but not an idealist a la Corbyn,He's not a unilateralist with regards to Trident either which is important imo as our security is the most important issue. However he does'nt have a chance of winning.
