Syria conflict: US 'holds Russia responsible' for deadly aid attack
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-37424871 The US has said it holds Russia responsible for a deadly attack on an aid convoy near the Syrian city of Aleppo on Monday. The White House has called it an "enormous humanitarian tragedy". Meanwhile, US officials have told the BBC that two Russian war planes were responsible for the attack. Russia strongly denies involvement of its own or Syrian planes, and says the incident was caused by fire on the ground and not by an air strike. |

What annoys me, and it applies to all sides in this mess, is that Syria is being used to promote a political point. It's war, things happen in war. America has bombed british troops in the past because of some over zealous, trigger happy pilots. Only recently, the US led coalition bombed people by mistake in Syria. The US is supporting rebel fighters in Syria, which does include IS members. Syria is being used as a football. The Syrian regime is dreadful, its being supported by Russia, but what happens if the Syrian regime is toppled, what then? Sometimes a horrible regime is the best option when compared to the alternatives there could be.
I would just like these major players to just once, stop their political point scoring and find the best solution for the people whether that agrees with their own politics or not. |

It does seem that the attack was carried out from the air so must have been either Syrian or Russian forces. Russia would be better off for just admitting it and apologising like the US were forced to admit that they (with our help) killed dozens of Syrian soldiers by mistake

Of course Russia has attacked an aid convoy. They want the war in Syria to go on as long as possible. The refugee crisis is crippling Europe while the Russians are re-evaluating Eastern Europe with greedy eyes. They want us tied up in a war while our countries struggle to cope with an influx of new people. Doesn't surprise me at all...

If there was a drone in the area, and there may or may not have been, the Americans are unlikely to release that kind of info especially to Russia, it could well have been a reconnaissance drone.

It could be complete fabrication of course, but the Russians state that the USA drone appeared 3 minutes before the strike, and disappeared 30 mins later. That's very specific. The fact is they will have a damn good idea from the munitions used in the attack who did it, they will have known that almost immediately, yet nothing has been said on that. |

Bombing an aid convoy is a new low for Russia, so was shooting down a civilian plane.

thats funny, I hear that russian cruise missiles destroyed a command center just outside of aleppo, and it was full of intelligence officers, and they where from a mix of countries, israeli, british, saudi, american, turkish, and most where wiped out by the missiles, we all know who's bank rolling the rebels now, those aid trucks are used to bring weapons into the city,
