I think there are comparisons to be made; as you said yourself, the result is down to a frustrated and ignored population rallying behind something "different" that they don't fully understand.

However, that's not to say that it will be a "Nazi Germany situation" - because as I said before, I don't think Trump truly believes half of the rhetoric he used to gain votes. There's not real "passion" behind his various "-isms" and he's unlikely to actually act on any of them. He will focus primarily on the economy / isolationist ("Made By American Hands With American Stuff!") business idealism that he has, and make a bit of a mess there, and then he'll be voted out in 4 years.
