Yes, so after 15 years of the show being on the air they have started doing this in the last 2 years. That's a rather new thing and unfortunately they get away with it and ruining the show even more than they already have because people like you lap it up.

After a public vote selected Makosi and Vanessa at the top 2. And the viewers were informed before the lines opened EXACTLY what would happen.

With this "twist" they pulled it out of their arseholes, as per usual, at the last moment after people had been voting to save HMs, including Austin, who did indeed to get saved. Only to get booted 10 minutes later. Don't you see what a slap in the face to voters that is? Can you not see how alienating to the fans it is?
