Why do so many threads get turned back towards Muslims? its like an obsession.
I respect you and like you Red but you aren't getting the point of what I said I think. You just cherry picked muslims from the whole.

What I said wasn't about muslims, it was about countries who repress their women on a large scale. It is sadly impossible to speak about this without including muslim countries because that is where it's at and the two countries I mentioned aren't the only ones. That doesn't mean it should be something we don't talk about. Everyone who commented on my post completely missed the mention of China in their rush to defend muslims. This happens every t8ime this subject comes up and frankly it scares me that people are so blind and accepting because it's faith related oppression of women.

Trump's election and Brexit showed that both the UK and the US are sliding towards extremism. The Women's March is as relevant to the UK as it is to the US although it's more pre-emptive here but still important as our Media and government rely on scapegoats and anyone who isn't the preferred demographic will be targeted eventually.

Trump's administration brings with it the threat of the end of Planned Parenthood, stricter abortion laws and the continued presence of a gender based wage gap. The march is relevant and important.
Oh ok, we're cherry picking what we disapprove of. I get it.

My response wasn't actually to you Jaxie. I did read your post but because you wrote about Iranian baby girls being murdered, I felt I couldn't answer you directly.... I was responding to the posts that followed yours.

The Muslim/Chinese/Iranian women is a digression from the topic.
...Its like this... A few years back I was part of a protest to stop farm animals and horses being transported to abattoirs overseas, on the hoof.

You could point a finger at me and say, "If I can protest to stop animals being transported live, why don't I protest to stop cruelty that often goes on in Hahal abattoirs?

The answer is, I've done that too but they were two different protests and so two different discussions.

Nope.. we have rights, we in the first world campaigned, fought, died, protested, and legislated for rights why then would the trampling of those in our culture be cherry picking?
Other cultures in the developing world have differing issues to face. Those are the facts as they stand.

We have rights... we should like to keep them. There is nothing wrong with voicing this is there?

It's not a case of if you protest one issue you automatically become a professional protester who attends any and all protests :/

This logic isn't just fuzzy, it's shag pile... Did you like that?....I just made it up ... just then.

How did you get on at the one about the immigrant sex attacks in Germany caused by Merkels open door policy?

I don't understand how this refers to my statement.

Those attacks were awful, but if I were to march at one of these events it's because I want revel in the cause for women's rights and justice. I haven't said anything in regard to Angela Merkel or other political issues prior to my first comment.

Why do you have to go on all the marches to make going to a particular one valid? That's a ridiculous suggestion

It's a weak tactic to try to invalidate the marches because there's no real counter argument to be made to them.

More attempts to downplay the marches without actually offering any points in return. Very desperate.

I dont need to downplay them as they did that themselves

They showed the people up for the astonishing hypocrites they are

Just a pity probably half of them did not vote
