I'll give you the music part.

But the general sentiment... That's the inherent flaw in wanting to wind the clock back. "Now is bad, let's go back to before it was bad". If you go back to before it was bad, bad is still coming.

The ONLY hope is always forward. Never look back. Hope that what comes next is better.

The grass is always greener kind of thinking. It rarely is. Seems much more likely there is a lot of bad to look forward to. You think the world will become a better place - I would say the opposite. Progressive, forward-thinking - they are just words, pretty empty words really. Forward to what exactly?

That comes down to opinion, not fact. We can learn a lot from the past. Advanced technology for example does not mean a better world. It can have the opposite effect. Where we gain in some areas we lose in others.

Young people don't understand that and never will coz you can't put an old head on young shoulders ! People have to learn that for themselves, often to their cost.

Are you saying you would like to go backwards? Is that why you support UKIP? (Thats how your post came across, correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm not saying you have to look forward and move forward because things always improve, I'm saying you can't keep trying to move backwards because you literally CAN'T, cannot, whether it was better or not.

"The grass is always greener" perfectly describes the idea that things "used to be so much better so we should go back to that". In fact it's the very origin of the phrase
