She had impact. Her introduction finally gave us the backstory on the rest of the Carter's and explained the baby stuff with Babe and Shirley.

He dropped the ball once she came to the Square full time by not really exploring how hard it is to care for her all that much.

But let's not pretend SOC did any different. He used her once for Babe's exit episode then has only been using her the last 4 weeks when Shirley decided she'd had enough and would rather be in prison and then the build up to her death tonight.
