I hope no one is suggesting those from the gay community should be exempt from conscription. Sexuality and gender are two different things. I think many would like to think they weren't suited to it for many reasons.

It would make a mockery of equality.

No. Modern wars are about who has the best tech and the most bombs, untrained conscripts are useless to a modern military.

National Service was a thing back in the days of WW1 and 2 but, like TS said, it would not be profitable or practical for the military to conscript untrained civilians en masse. The training costs would be astronomical considering the technlogy angle.

It seems to me that America are damned if they do and damned if they don't with you. I would have thought you would have been critical of America if they had not taken some action against Assad for using chemicals on innocents. You really can't have it both ways.
