Strange that...
It's the left thinkers most guilty in their attempt to thwart free speech.

So why is it usually right wingers who are oh so offended when comedians make jokes about taboo subjects, and demand they be banned from TV/apologise?

I will have to take your word for that, but not a fan of stand-up comics personally, usually a bunch of miserable misogynistic old farts most of the time.

However I'm not too bothered by their limited humour, but, like everything, there has to be limits and when they attack the disabled or other such groups it's distasteful. I do vaguely remember Frank ?Skinner, can't remember his name, apparently made some nasty comments about Katie Price's disabled son under the guise of humour which is pretty rank tbh. People often use humour and so-called 'jokes' to insult others- just cowards.

I would imagine the old lefties get pretty fired-up by racist/PC jokes. Every side has its 'sensitives', I very much doubt it's exclusive to the 'right wingers'.

That was Frankie Boyle and I think that was particularly bad because he was making a joke about a specific person, a specific child more to the point, that was cruel imo

yeah frankie boyle, decided it was funny to suggest a disabled child may rape his mother, no doubt the sancimonious twat would claim it was taken out of context, whatever, it is cheap laughs, unfunny, mean spirited etc etc like a lot of his attention seeking drivel.. totally over rated and in that case very nasty

I agree. Very liberal of you. Is this where you personally draw the line on political correctness? You havent actually answered the question in the OP yet.

Bollocks. I actually don't think the right/left divide comes into it at all. There are varying opinions on the amount of free speech we should / shouldn't be allowed on both "sides". Plenty of heavily right leaning posters on here who would happily stifle free speech (in the name of security, for example) and likewise those leaning the other way politically who would limit it far more strictly than I would ever agree with.

Case in point; this is basically what me and Kirk would PM about fairly frequently... our political opinions essentially never aligned. Ever. BUT we were both of the opinion that everyone should be able to say pretty much whatever they want without fear of official sanction. So we used to PM each other to get an unbiased opinion on the "fairness" of responses to things, because we each knew that the other would almost certainly disagree with the actual opinions expressed in the post, and so would only be giving an objective view on the post as it stood otherwise.

I do miss ol' Kirk's PMS. Sniffle.

Him and myself used to do that too. We could go at it hammer and tongue in SD but talk more openly and frankly with each other in pm. I think a lot of people presumed Kirk and me hated each other when in fact the opposite was true!!

I miss him too.
