Yeah, it's kinda not right to purposely mispronounce someone's name just because they have a unique, foreign name. The reason I don't have an issue with it is the context from Paul. He was just repeating a joke that was based on someone else accidentally mispronouncing Karthik's name and it was just in a joking manner as well rather than with malicious or condescending intent.

It's very understandable for Karthik to take it personally for a second as well without realizing the context, honest misunderstanding, etc.

Everyone else was saying Kafar, which is just rude.. he thought Danan said Qatar, which is relatively racist and a level above 'Kafar'. Idk how this is still beig discussed. Pauls rudeness was misunderstood as racism, whilst the rudeness of others was not. Maybe they announciated their syllables better.

I don't think it's about not being able to pronounce it. I find that a rather lame excuse.

If it was written down and someone didn't know how to pronounce it from reading it, then fair enough. I've run into that problem many times.

But when you have the person whose name it is actually telling you their name, it's easy to simply say it the way they're telling you. It's ignorance at best to continually get it wrong.

In the case of Danan, that's irrelevant as he purposely got it wrong as a joke. He admitted that.
