I agree that it stepped up at the end though. It was that Halloween episode that got me watching properly again.

I think DTC had a strong impact on the show from that point.

The show just changed too much for it to suddenly be the work of the same producer.

Personally, I'd love JWB to stay permanently. I just feel the classic businessman eastender type is missing from the show and I think him being reformed after this storyline ends would work well.

Say what you want about DTC's style and direction but at least he always had ideas bouncing around.

The show has been lifeless since SOC came in. And even his attempt at breathing life into it with bus crashes and whatnot are bloody awful.

Oh I don't think he can be redeemed.

But I also don't think permanent characters all need to be redeemable. I don't mind a good old fashioned villainous bastard.

The soaps tends to shy away from that and try to give everyone a heart or excuse their bad actions.

I guess he could just be very unlikeable but I was just thinking that he could have been somehow but I'd love him to stick around for at least 2 years. I want him to run the car lot.

Those two murders you mention were even accidents (aka manslaughter) and Michelle and Preston was different. At least use half-decent examples.

Like Marsh said he's free to hang around as a short-lived villain but that's where it ends. No way can a rapist hang around. Even EE's got a better moral compass than that.
