Just rewatched the 2007 Christmas episodes. It was very raw and emotional watching it the second time round

After going straight from that to the 2009 Christmas eppy it’s very refreshing to see Bradley and Stacey back together.

Also not even 5 minutes in and Janine is the most iconic female soap character ever

Omg me too I paused it because I thought I was watching part two.

Yeah I thought I was watching part two too.

I forgot they used to do massive cliffhangers over Christmas to guarantee big ratings. The reveal on Christmas Eve leading into the big Christmas Day part one and then Tanya falling down the stairs to lead into part two.

Now it's just one boring one hour episode but the Christmas Eve episode will be a good lead in as the duff duff will probably be our Max and Stacey having sex.

Erm why is the 2007 episodes picking up after the cliffhanger.

Part of the fun of those episodes is seeing the tension build as everyone sits around all happy to watch the DVD and then the epic cliffhanger.

The first episode just dived straight in.

That's what annoys me.

It kind of spoils the maturing and development of the character that she'd just be weak to the sight of his body after everything.

Just did some digging and it all happened on Christmas day (2007), the bit after Tanya falls down the stairs was boxing day, which means they cut some of the episode! It’s extremely uncommon (or never happens) for a Christmas day episode to start on Christmas eve.

This is on Eastenders official youtube and it says the release date was 25/12/2007. Still tense to watch!

The showdown in the Square with Max running upto the Vic Roof as the police close in. Lauren and Abi try to talk him down, Lauren falls and Abi tries to rescue her but they both go off the roof. One of them dies and Max is sectioned
