It's like acting.
Costume is so powerful. Wearing different clothes affects the way you feel inside and also how people treat you. Dress like a zombie and people will be scared of you. Dress like a fluffy dog and people will want to stroke you. Shane dressing up as a glamourous sexy woman is of course going to trigger reactions in people around him.
