Fairly sure Shane thought it was a foolproof plan and he would be able to pull it off
 I reckon he might also think it was not transparent to the viewers and that he had made it look like genuine concern or something, rather than just bitching and trying to make her look bad. Only person he made look bad was himself tbh, kinda disappointed in him
